Dear Dad

A father passing by his teenage daughter's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was neat and tidy.

Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the centre of the pillow. It was addressed "Dad". With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands:- Dear Dad,It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you, but I'm leaving home. I had to elope with my new boyfriend Randy because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you.

I've been finding real passion with Randy and he is so nice to me. I know when you meet him you'll like him too - even with all his piercing, tattoos, and motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion Dad, I'm pregnant and Randy said that he wants me to have the kid and that we can be very happy together.

Even though Randy is much older than me (anyway, 42 isn't so old these days is it? ), and has no money, really these things shouldn't stand in the way of our relationship, don't you agree?Randy has a great CD collection; he already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. It's true he has other girlfriends as well but I know he'll be faithful to me in his own way. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too. Randy taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and he'll be growing it for us and we'll trade it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.

In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Randy can get better; he sure deserves it!! Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren. Must read it can happen with anyone..... so easy trick.......Her handbag which contained her mobile, credit card, purse.. .etc....was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her hubby, telling him what happened.Husband says, "I've just received your SMS asking about your Pin number. And I've replied a little while ago". When they rushed down tothe bank. Bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn.The pickpocket had actually used the stolen hand phone to sms "hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 mins he had withdrawn all the money from the bank account.

Bangalore may be the next golfing capital of India, given the interest the “Garden City” has recently developed in the sport of golf. The number of players flocking to tournaments in the city clubs, the number of new golf courses under construction and the general enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by existing players is beginning to rival the current National Capital Region of Delhi. The flagship Bangalore club of the Karnataka Golf Association, a championship 18 hole course situated adjacent to the city airport just one month ago commenced an expensive renovation to improve water drainage in order to keep the course playable during the heavy monsoon months. They have hired one of Europe’s best known golf course architects, Howard Swan of the UK, former President of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects to design the modernization plan. On the outskirts of Bangalore, surging demand in golf club memberships and golf course based real estate has led to entrepreneurs commencing development of six new courses and by 2010 , the city will add four new courses to its existing roster. A few years ago, the more than century old Bangalore Golf Club at High Grounds changed the face of their course by investing approximately 5 crore rupees in redesigning its greens and fairways. According the India’s top professional players, who two weeks ago participated in the richest ever prize money event ever held in Bangalore, the putting surfaces at the club can challenge any of Delhi’s finest courses and are on par with top courses in the world. No doubt when courses go through these extensive makeovers, local club golfers are inconvenienced because the course is shut for a period of around 12 – 18 months, but everyone will agree that the new permanent playing surfaces have been worth the temporary sacrifice. Both Bangalore Golf Club and the KGA should show the way to the hundred or so old courses that dot India and were built in the pre independence era. Today with demand for golf at an all time high, most of these courses could do with a similar overhaul. At recent invitation tournaments in the city, demand has been at an all time high with 120 players showing up to participate in the World Corporate Golf Challenge compared to the previous high turnout of 104 . Bangalore players also demonstrated heart when a charity Bangalore Golf Club tournament to raise funds for a local hospital attracted 114 donor – participants. The KGA club routinely organizes evening get together where they educate golfers about the rules of the game and generate interest in handicap systems – an activity that is somewhat unique to that club. The club has devised a unique educational quiz format which is lively, interactive and entertaining. The response from newly inducted golfers is encouraging. Players genuinely want to learn more about the game and to participate in such group activities. Each of the Bangalore golf clubs have supported junior coaching programmes run by professional coaches and the number of kids taking to the game is growing by the day. Encouraged by the success of India’s top professionals on the world scene ( at the time of writing this Jyoti Randhawa is the halfway leader at the Singapore Masters and Daniel Chopra is lying 3rd in the USPGA event) – keen youngsters are dedicating themselves to mastering the game’s technique at an early age. The Indian Golf Union is paying special emphasis on boosting junior golf in South India and the support of the clubs is second to none. So although golf in the South has been lagging behind North and East India for several years, it is catching up fast and over the next 5 years we will find a shift in the industry towards Bangalore and its surrounds. Years ago, footage emerged from a remote village in India. The video shows a young girl receiving surgery to separate her fingers, which were badly burned and fused together. Why did this operation make headlines around the world? The surgery was performed by a 7-year-old boy named Akrit Jaswal.

Now 13 years old, Akrit has an IQ of 146 and is considered the smartest person his age in India-a country of more than a billion people. Before Akrit could even speak, his parents say they knew he was special."He learned very fast," says Raksha, Akrit's mother. "After learning the alphabet, we started to teach him joining of words, and he started writing as well. He was two."At an age when most children are learning their ABCs, Akrit was reading Shakespeare and assembling a library of medical textbooks. When he was 5 years old, he enrolled in school. One year later, Akrit was teaching English and math classes.Akrit developed a passion for science and anatomy at an early age.

Doctors at local hospitals took notice and started allowing him to observe surgeries when he was 6 years old. Inspired by what he saw, Akrit read everything he could on the topic. When an impoverished family heard about his amazing abilities, they asked if he would operate on their daughter for free. Her surgery was a success.After the surgery, Akrit was hailed as a medical genius in India. Neighbors and strangers flocked to him for advice and treatment. At age 11, Akrit was admitted to Punjab University. He's the youngest student ever to attend an Indian university. That same year, he was also invited to London's famed Imperial College to exchange ideas with scientists on the cutting edge of medical research.Akrit says he has millions of medical ideas, but he's currently focused on developing a cure for cancer.

"I've developed a concept called oral gene therapy on the basis of my research and my theories," he says. "I'm quite dedicated towards working on this mechanism."Growing up, Akrit says he used to see cancer patients lying on the side of the road because they couldn't afford treatment or hospitals had no space for them. Now, he wants to use his intellect to ease their suffering. "[I've been] going to hospitals since the age of 6, so I have seen firsthand people suffering from pain," he says. A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1) The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed . They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2) The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whose clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around specifically to cut clothing.

3) They also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4) Men are most likely to attack & rape in the early morning, between 5: 00a.m. and 8:30a.m.

5) The number one place women are abducted from/attacked is grocery store parking lots. Number two is office parking lots/garages. Number three is public restrooms.

6) The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to another location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.

7) Only 2% said they carried weapons because rape carries a 3-5 year sentence but rape with a weapon is 15-20 years.

8) If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9) These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.

10) Several defense mechanisms he taught us are: If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time
is it, or make general small talk: "I can't believe it is so cold out here", "we're in for a bad winte r" Now you've seen their face and could identify them in a line-up; you lose appeal as a target.

11) If someone is coming toward you , hold out your hands in front of you and yell STOP or STAY BACK ! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

12) If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,)! Yell I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

13) If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm (between the elbow and armpit) OR in the upper inner thigh VERY VERY HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands - the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it hurts.

14) After the initial hit, always GO for the GROIN I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and! make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he's out of there.

15) When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

16) Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts guy really was trouble.
